Conditions Policy

Last updated March 2025

Accurate condition descriptions are essential for a fair marketplace. This policy outlines our grading standards and expectations for buyers and sellers.

Summary

Grading scale: We use a standard TCG condition scale (Near Mint, Lightly Played, Moderately Played, Heavily Played, Damaged) for raw cards, plus graded slabs (PSA, BGS, CGC, etc.).

Sellers: Must accurately describe condition, upload clear photos, and disclose any flaws.

Buyers: Review listings carefully; condition is subjective and minor variations may occur.

Condition Grading Scale

For raw (ungraded) cards, we use the following standard scale. Sellers must select the condition that best matches their item and describe any notable flaws in the listing.

  • Near Mint (NM) / Mint (M): No visible wear. Corners, edges, and surface are sharp. May have minor printing imperfections from the factory.
  • Lightly Played (LP): Minor wear from handling. May have slight whitening on edges, light surface wear, or minor corner wear. No creases or bends.
  • Moderately Played (MP): Noticeable wear. May have whitening on edges, light scratching, or minor creases. Card remains intact and playable.
  • Heavily Played (HP): Significant wear. Multiple creases, heavy whitening, or noticeable damage. Card may show obvious play.
  • Damaged (DMG): Major damage such as tears, heavy creases, water damage, or significant alterations. Must be clearly disclosed with photos.

For graded cards (PSA, BGS, CGC, PCG, etc.), sellers must include the grading company, grade value, and clear images of the slab. The grade on the slab is the condition reference.

Seller Requirements

When listing cards, sellers must:

  • Select the condition that best matches the item's actual state
  • Upload clear, well-lit photos showing the front and back of the card
  • Disclose any flaws (whitening, scratches, creases, bends, marks) in the description
  • For graded cards: include grading company, grade, and photos of the slab
  • Not misrepresent condition—when in doubt, grade conservatively

Listings that significantly misrepresent condition may result in refunds, account action, or both. Buyers are protected under the Consumer Guarantees Act when items are not as described.

Buyer Expectations

Condition grading is subjective. Minor variations between sellers' interpretations may occur. Buyers should:

  • Review all photos and descriptions before purchasing
  • Contact the seller with questions about condition if unclear
  • Understand that "Near Mint" does not mean "perfect"—minor factory flaws are common
  • Raise concerns promptly if an item arrives in a condition materially different from the listing

If a card arrives in a condition that does not match the listing, buyers may be entitled to a remedy under our Returns Policy and the Consumer Guarantees Act.
